An exchange of letteres extending from the formation of their friendship at Cambridge through years of encompassing Browne's travels in India, their co-founding of the Samurai Press, Monro's founding of the Poetry Review and the Poetry Bookshop, and the establishment of the Chicago Little Theatre. A few letters are addressed to Browne's sister Dorothy who was married to Monro, 1903-1916.

Harold Monro was born in Brussels to Scottish parents, and educated at Cambridge. He wrote and published poetry, and founded the influential magazine, Poetry Review. He is best remembered for opening the Poetry Bookshop in London, where he published new collections of poems and created a hospitable environment for poets and readers.
